Instrument(s):  Banjo, guitar, trombone, piano
Hometown:  Grand Rapids, Michigan

Dave started on piano and a song flute received in his Christmas stocking at the age of six subsequently picking up clarinet, alto sax, and trombone while in high school and at Indiana's DePauw University. A US Navy hitch after college allowed time to learn guitar and string bass which he played sitting in on Nashville's famous Printer's Alley with well known country musicians.

Moving to Grand Rapids in the early '60s, he added banjo to the instrument list and founded the Muscat Ramblers Dixieland band. Prior to joining the NRB in 1987, he played and recorded for many years with the Sons of Bix.
